Uniforms 4 Kids Program

Pioneered by Order of Australia recipient Yvonne Pattinson, this world-first program firstly recycled police uniforms and turned them into clothing for disadvantaged children around Australia. Since inception many have been made for indigenous and migrant communities. The program has expanded to include uniforms not only from Police but from Australia Zoo and the Australian Border Force. Yvonne has donated her time to make over 1,000 items of clothing for children in need. She has joined the Brighter Future 4 Kids Foundation and together we are expanding the program nationally and internationally.

Our aim is to:

  • Provide disadvantaged children with unique clothing
  • Improve self esteem and give children in need a real sense of pride
  • Reduce bullying
  • Bridge the communication gap and understanding between local communities   and police officers
  • Build legitimacy and trust between policing organisations and the community in an effort to prevent and reduce offences
  • To connect and support retirees and other members of our community by engaging them in a vital community program. By donating their sewing skills and a little time, they will become part of something important and a meaningful part of our children’s future.

Our plan is to:

  • Donate 12,000 sets of clothes within 2 years
  • Donate 100,000 sets of clothes per annum within 5 years

Through this program Australian uniforms continue to Serve and Protect our Communities.
